Anchorage, AK June 11, 2004 -- When it comes to travel and vacations, what was once exclusive is no longer so elusive thanks to a company called Xtremely Alaska. The recent expansion of Xtremely Alaska allows them to offer uniquely packaged vacation tours that provide an unprecedented way to experience the ambiance of Alaska. Xtremely Alaska offers adventures like hiking, biking, kayaking, ice climbing, glacier viewing, fishing, mountain biking, dog sledding, but it is the only company in Alaska offering vacationers "selective excursion" packages.
"We offer complete flexibility," says Xtremely Alaska General Manager Rebecca McKee, "other tour companies require clients to choose pre-determined dates and have group sizes in some cases up to the hundreds. Our packages start and end on the client's timeline - we fit the packages to their schedules. If they want to fish one day instead of raft we find a way for it to happen."
McKee and her associates came up with the unique business model idea when doing market research for the company years ago. They found a major issue people had with packaged tours was they had to spend time with the same other guests throughout the vacation without the choice of trying something different that what others in the tour were doing. Another one of those unique aspects of Xtremely Alaska is its "care package". It provides tourists with their day-by-day look at their planned adventures, the best places to eat, the free things they can see and do, places worth stopping along the way, the history of the area they are traveling through, clear concise driving directions from their accommodations, maps, rack cards, brochures, information on how to pack and dress for Alaska and more. Unlike many other Alaskan tours, the Xtremely Alaska tours allow the client to spend the night indoors instead of in a tent each night.
The Xtremely Alaska tour guides are all experienced Alaskan residents who are out on the trails all summer and through the winter. That experience allows them to choose the best trail for the day of the hike, providing the guests with the most spectacular views, safest viewing of wildlife and the most comfortable conditions for their skill level. "Getting off the beaten path really provides our Alaskan guests with the spirit of Alaska," says McKee, "that's something that is missed on the back of bus, stuffed on a boat or booked on a cookie cutter tourist package."
All the details of airfare, car rental, places to stay, etc. are taken care of. For guests who prefer to handle their own details, Xtremely Alaska can coordinate their adventures with what they have planned.
Packages range in price from $75 for a one-day excursion to an extensive 14 day package for $2970 - full details of the packages and other additional information are available at: www.xtremelyalaska.com
